RECORDS: Suffolk (7-4, 5-3 GNAC) | Johnson & Wales (9-5, 7-0 GNAC)
HOW IT HAPPENED
Johnson and Wales held the majority of possession to start, finding the back of the net in the first eight minutes. A deep run from midfield set up Olivia Cairrao to shoot from six yards out, her left footed shot found the bottom right corner to give the Wildcats an early 1-0 edge.
Suffolk would find its first opportunity in the 25th minute with a Caleigh O'Brien cross meeting the head of Carley Pearce, forcing Collen Lynch into a quick save.
From a Suffolk goal kick, the Wildcats won the initial header, which played in Cairro for a one-an-one with Allison Rodrigues. Cairro looped the ball over the head of an on-rushing Rodrigues, to double the Wildcats lead.
Not long after, Jordan Restivo won a 50-50 ball in the Suffolk penalty area, which she calmly placed past Rodrigues to push the visitor's advantage to 3-0, a score that stood at the half.
Shortly into the second half, JWU was awarded a penalty for a handball in the box. Jaclyn Larsen stepped up to convert the spot kick to push the Wildcats cushion to four.
Suffolk would create an opportunity from a floated ball from Emerson Wildes, which found a stretching Leto Katsoufis, but her attempt was too high.
The Wildcats would add another goal a few minutes later through Chole Martinez.
Chances would continue for both teams, but the score would not change finishing 5-0 in the Wildcats' favor.
