Wildes to Lead Women’s Soccer as 2019 Captain

BOSTON – Emerson Wildes will serve as captain of the 2019 Suffolk women's soccer team as second-year head coach Ashley Van Vechten announced.

"One of many notable returns is our senior captain Emerson (Wildes), who has already demonstrated the quality of leadership which will prove invaluable to our squad this season," Van Vechten said.

The Dudley, Massachusetts, native has been a staple in blue-and-gold since arriving in Beantown in 2016. The midfielder exemplifies what a student-athlete should be. A diligent student, she finds the time to represent and be committed to her team, while also being connected to her pre-law studies. On the field, she sets the pace for her teammates as a competitor, leaving it all on the field. For these characteristics, she represented the Rams on the 2018 GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team.

Van Vechten looks to Wildes to continue her stand-up performance both on and off the field when she begins her first-year stint as captain.

Wildes and Suffolk is set to kick-off its 13th campaign Sunday, Sept. 1 at Elms at 1:00 p.m.
