Rivier Shuts Down Women’s Soccer, 1-0

NASHUA, N.H. – Suffolk women's soccer commanded the majority of the contest, but Rivier's lone goal proved to be the difference in a 1-0 decision Saturday afternoon at Raider Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Suffolk had more opportunities than the Raiders, but it was Brittany Fletcher's strike in the 38th minute that would find its way past Allison Rodrigues' gloves to score the game-winner. 

The Rams attempted a comeback, outshooting Rivier, 7-2 over the second set of 45 minutes, but Kasey Smith stood tall for the Raiders to secure the setback for Suffolk. 

KEEPING UP WITH THE KEEPERS

  • Rodrigues finished the day with three saves. 
  • Smith picked up seven saves in the victory.  

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING

  • Suffolk out shot Rivier, 13-5, including a 7-4 shot on goal margin. 
  • The Rams had 80 percent (4-5) of the conference contest conference opportunities.  

NOTEWORTHY

  • The last two meetings between Suffolk and Rivier have been decided via shutout.
