Strong Second Half Lifts JWU to 7-1 Win over Women’s Soccer

PROVIDENCE, R.I.– Six second half goals broke a 1-1 tie and propelled Johnson & Wales past the Suffolk women's soccer team, 7-1, Wednesday night.

THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 1, Johnson & Wales 7
RECORDS: Suffolk (4-5-0, 2-2-0 GNAC) | Johnson & Wales (6-2-3, 2-0-2 GNAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
After trading goals in the first frame, the Wildcats netted six over the second 45 minutes to earn the victory.

JWU got a gift in the seventh minute when it got an own goal from Suffolk to take an early lead. The Rams put one in the correct net at 35:04 mark when Alexandra Nagri tapped in a pass from Brooke Heathco to tie the game.

Unfortunately for the visitors, the JWU defense tighten up from that point and allowed Suffolk to only get one more shot the rest of the game. The Wildcats outshot the Rams, 26-6, forcing Suffolk's goalie Kirsten Weiker to make 11 saves.
