BOSTON – The Suffolk women's soccer team put in the most goals since 2012 in a 9-0 trouncing of Wheelock Wednesday night at Winsor Field.

RUNDOWN ON THE RAMS
After fall to WPI, 4-0, in its season opener, Suffolk has picked up two victories, defeating Eastern Nazarene, 1-0, and Wheelock, 9-0, to carry a 3-0 into its conference opener. 

The Rams, who are off to their best start since 2011, have seen six players find the back of the net this season led by Jennifer Martin's four. Alexandra Nagri has two tallies, with Melissa Adamo, Lorena Lorenzo, Paola Ortez and Shannon Simmons rounding out Suffolk's scorers. Jessica Harmon and Madelyn Whipple each have handed out a team-best two assists. 

In goal, Jordan Pettograsso and Kirsten Weiker each have won check mark in the win column, both shutouts. Pettograsso was the Rams' backstop in the 9-0 cleansheet over Wheelock, while Weiker held down the net for the Rams in the 1-0 shutout of Eastern Nazarene. Weiker's the staple keeper for Suffolk with the sophomore owning 24 saves, a 1.59 goals-against average and .889 save percentage. 

A BIT ABOUT THE AMCATS
Unlike the Rams, Anna Maria won its season opener, a 3-1 victory at Dean, but has dropped back-to-back games at Mass. Maritime and versus Newbury by identical 2-0 scores to sit a 1-2 on the year. 

Ashley Bottis buoys the AMCATS offense with five points off a team-best two goals and one handout. Courtney Ryan is the only other Anna Maria player to register a point with the freshman owning one goal and one assist. 

Kate Kneeland has seen every minute of action in net. The junior keeper owns a 1.67 goals-against average and a .865 save percentage with 32 stops to her credit. 

INSIDE THE SERIES
Suffolk boasts a 4-1 ledger against Anna Maria since the series began in 2011. The Rams' lone defeat to the AMCATS came in double overtime last season.   

EYES ON THE GAME
 

SCORING FRENZY
In the 9-0 victory Wednesday night at Wheelock, Suffolk poured in the most goals (9) since scoring 12 in a 12-0 shutout win over Anna Maria Oct. 24, 2012. The nine tallies are the fourth most goals all-time in the program's 10-year history, with the Rams' tallying nine goals on two other occasions, both 9-0 wins – Oct. 14, 2009 vs. Mass. Maritime and Oct. 13, 2010 vs. Newbury.

SHUTOUT
Suffolk held Eastern Nazarene and Wheelock scoreless to mark the first back-to-back shutouts since shutting out St. Joseph (Conn.) (2-0) and Anna Maria (12-0) in consecutive contests in 2012.

MAGINIFICENT MARTIN
Jennifer Martin, who is the first Ram with a multi-goal game since Alexandra Nagri netted two in the season finale last season at Mount Ida, racked up four tallies in the 9-0 triumph at Wheelock Wednesday. Her offensive outpour, she ties the fourth-most goals in a single-game by a Ram and is the most goals by a Ram since Leslie Hayden and Lauren Cameron netted five and four, respectively at Anna Maria Oct. 10, 2011. The junior is also the first Ram to net a hat trick since Nagri did so in a 4-3 win at St. Joseph (Conn.) Sept. 19, 2015.

WELL, THAT'S A FIRST
Three different Rams scored their first collegiate goal in the 9-0 win at Wheelock – Melissa Adamo, Lorena Lorezno and Paola Ortez. Shannon Simmons' also joined in on the firsts with her first score of 2016.
