NEWTON, Mass. – Sophomore Alexandra Nagri's breakaway goal left capped off a 3-2 thrilling victory over Mount Ida for the Suffolk women's soccer team Saturday afternoon at the Athletics Complex in the Rams season finale.

After going up 2-0 thanks to tallies from Jennifer Martin  and Nagri, Mount Ida (2-11-4, 0-9-2 GNAC) reeled off two scores in a 16 minute span to level the playing field, but the Rams (4-15, 3-8 GNAC) held on to end its season on a high note.

In the first half, a rather tactical set from both sides, Mount Ida was first out of the gates. The youthful  Mustangs peppered Kirsten Weieker with two shots on target in the first six minutes, but the freshman keeper held steady. Martin was the first Ram to test the Mustangs goalie Kelsey Parkin as the sophomore went on a breakaway in the 13th minute. Martin shot high and connected, putting Suffolk up 1-0 with her seventh goal of the season.

Suffolk controlled the action until the half came to a close. Nagri nearly made good with a touch in the box at 30:18 and Markin had a great look at 40:43, but Parkin kept it a 1-0 contest to start the second.

Suffolk struck again early in the second stanza as Nagri made a move to get into the box, receiving a pass from Martin. Nagri fired one on target and put the ball into the netting the left of the keeper to put the Rams up 2-0.

Fighting for any score, the Mustangs finally broke through at 53:12. On her senior day, Isabelle Moody capitalized on a free kick, directing it right into the goal.

The one-goal lead would not stay for long as Nagri put her second goal of the day just 18 seconds after Mount Ida got on the board. Nagri notched Suffolk's second breakaway goal of the day and her eighth tally of the season to put the visitors out in front by two, 3-1.

Looking for more, the Mustangs continued to press. Outmuscling Suffolk for much of the remaining time and took advantage on yellow card handed out to the Rams. Moody ended her senior career swinging as she struck from 35-yards out to push the score to 3-2.

Weiker made eight saves in the triumph, her third of the season, while Parkin stopped nine attempts in the setback. Suffolk outshot Mt. Ida, 22-15, but was edged in shots on target, 9-8. The Rams held a 9-1 advantage in corners.

Suffolk's defense held the remainder of the way to secure the 3-2 victory.
