Harmon Strikes Twice as Women's Soccer Top JWU 2-1

The Suffolk University Women's Soccer team defeated the Johnson & Wales University Wildcats 2-1 on Wednesday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action.

Freshman Jessica Harmon (Huntington Beach, Calif.) continued her hot streak scoring two more goals as Suffolk extends their unbeaten streak to four games.

It would take Harmon only thirty-four seconds to strike for the game's first goal as she lofted a header up and over from 25 yards out into the net to start the contest.

Johnson & Wales would answer in the nineteenth minute of the contest when freshman Gabriella Weithofer (East Longmeadow, Mass.) would score her fourth goal of the season putting in her own rebound to even things up at a goal a piece.

Harmon would score the eventual game winner in the fifty-fourth minute of the game converting on a penalty kick. It would be the second time in as many games that Suffolk would score a goal on the free chance. The goal was Harmon's seventh of the season and sixth in three games.

After a busy first half that saw her make nine saves, senior Melissa Brouillette (Shelton, Conn.) pushed aside 12 shots in total during the contest for Suffolk in goal.

The win improves the Rams to a 3-5-3 mark on the season and 2-1-3 record in GNAC play.

Suffolk will be back in action on Saturday as they travel to Rivier University in a GNAC matchup beginning at 1:00pm.
