Lasell Cruises Past Suffolk 4-0

The Lasell College Lasers cruised to a 4-0 victory over host Suffolk University in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Soccer action on Thursday afternoon.

Junior Bridget Lynch (Dover, N.H.) continued her torrid scoring pace as she netted two goals bringing her season total to a league leading 23 goals to help pace the offensive attack for Lasell. With the victory the Lasers improve to a league best 8-0-1 record in conference play and 11-2-1 mark overall on the season.

Lasell would jump out early scoring three times in the first half. Lynch opened the scoring with her first goal of the day heading in a ball off of a corner kick by freshman Devon Day (Hartland, Vt.).

Day would tally the next two Lasers' goals just one minute apart later in the first half. She netted her first goal at the forty-minute mark taking a feed from junior Kayla Lynch (Dover, N.H.) putting home her fifth goal of the season. A minute and twenty seconds later Day would strike again as she knocked in a loose ball in front of the Suffolk net for the 3-0 edge heading into the break.
Day finished the game with two goals and an assist, while Lynch netted her 23rd goal of the season at the eighty-minute mark of the contest.
Junior Melissa Brouillette (Shelton, Conn.) was busy in goal all day for Suffolk as she made 12 saves in the contest.
The Lasers held a 16-4 edge in shots on goal, and a 22-9 edge in shots on the contest. They limited Suffolk to just one shot in the first half.

Suffolk had two golden scoring opportunities slip by them in the second half as they tried to chip away at the lead. Senior Gabrielle Balestrier (Mohnton, Pa.) had a wide open net as Lasers' junior netminder Leah Pappalardo (Whitman, Mass.) came out to play a ball that Balestrier was able to knock free but mishandled on her shot attempt.  In the seventy-ninth minute Balestrier was led upfield by senior Taylor Miranda (Smithtown, N.Y.) on a breakaway but her shot to the right side of the goal bounced off the post preserving the shutout for the Lasers.

Pappalardo made four saves for her third shutout of the season.
Lasell will be back in action again on Saturday afternoon as they host Swarthmore College as part of their Family and Friends Weekend at noon. Suffolk will be idle until Monday when they host Tufts University as part of Senior Day beginning at 4:00pm.
