Women's Soccer Victorious Over Simmons, 2-1

The Suffolk University Women's Soccer team held on for a 2-1 victory on Saturday evening defeating the Simmons College Sharks in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action.

Sophomore Binglei Zhou (Shanghai, China) scored the game winning goal in the game's fifty-seventh minute for the Rams' first victory of the season. Zhou scored her second goal of the season as she knocked in a rebound off an intital shot from the foot of senior Gabrielle Balestier (Mohnton, Pa.).

Suffolk opened the scoring in the first as senior Taylor Miranda (Smithtown, N.Y.) scored on a takeaway in front of the net in the game's sixteenth minute.

Simmons would answer 37 minutes into the contest as senior Kristyn Heuslein (Manchester, N.H.) scored her third goal of the year. Heuslen headed in a ball off a corner kick from sophomore Alexis Eusebio (Dartmouth, Mass.).

Junior Melissa Brouillette (Shelton, Conn.) was strong in net as she pushed aside nine of 10 Sharks' shots in the contest.

Sophomore goalkeeper Briana Hayes (Manorville, N.Y.) made four saves in goal for Simmons.

Simmons held a 21-12 overall advantage in shots on the contest, including a 15-7 edge in the second half.

Both teams will be back in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon. Simmons will travel to Wheaton College , while Suffolk heads to UMass-Boston.
