The Suffolk University Women's Soccer team defeated the University of Saint Joseph Blue Jays, 2-0 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Saturday evening at Dilboy Stadium.

The Blue Jays entered the game with a 13 game unbeaten streak that was snapped by the Rams, who now improve to a 5-6 mark in GNAC play and 5-10 record overall. St. Joseph now falls to 12-2-1 overall as the loss is their first in GNAC play setting them back to a 10-1-1 league record. St. Joseph entered the week as the tenth ranked team in New England by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).

Junior Gabrielle Balestrier (Mohnton, Pa.) scored the first goal of the game twenty-one minutes into the contest as she weaved her way through the Blue Jays' defense scoring her team-leading fifth goal of the season.

Junior Meghan McHale (Halifax, Mass.) added some insurance for the Rams with three minutes remaining in the contest as she scored her second goal in as many games with a boot from 35 yards out to make it a 2-0 game.

Sophomore Melissa Brouillette (Shelton, Conn.) made five saves in the contest for the shutout.

Brouillette was rarely tested in the game thanks in part to a Suffolk defense that limited to Blue Jays to nine shots in the game and just three in the second half. Brouillette made a point blank save on junior Patricia Nolan (Portland, Conn.) in the fifty-second minute that was the best Blue Jays scoring opportunity of the game.

Freshman Melissa Dodge (Watertown, Conn.) only made two saves in the game as the Blue Jays limited Suffolk to just five total shots in the game.

The Blue Jays will be back in action on Tuesday as they host the Coast Guard in non-conference action at 3:30pm. Suffolk will round out the regular season in GNAC action as they host Anna Maria College as part of senior day Wednesday evening at Dilboy Stadium beginning at 7:30pm.
