The St. Joseph's College Monks outlasted the Suffolk University Rams, 2-1 on Wednesday evening in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Soccer action.

Junior Meghan McHale (Halifax, Mass.) scored her first goal of the season in the game's seventy-first minute to cut the Monks lead in half, but two first half goals for the visitors would be enough to propel St. Joseph's College to victory.

Senior Katherine Chambers (Hampden, Me.) opened the scoring in the game's sixth minute as she scored her fourth goal of the season for the Monks.

Junior Ashley Beaulieu (Durham, Me.) scored what would turn out to be the game winning goal in the thirty-third minute of the contest as she took a cross-pass from sophomore Kim Jordan (Bangor, Me.). The goal was Beaulieu's first game-winning goal of the season and sixth goal of the 2012 season.

Junior Jaci Lorenzen (Windham, Me.) was busy in goal for the Monks on the evening as she made 10 saves in the contest, including six in the first half as she ups her season mark to 8-4-2 in goal.

Sophomore Melissa Brouillette (Shelton, Conn.) made four saves in a losing effort for the Rams and managed to stay in the game after a nasty collision in the first half with a Monks player that left her on the ground for a few moments. Brouillette was able to overcome the scare and make three second half saves for the Rams putting them in position for victory.

McHale's goal made it a 2-1 game as she scored on a header that started off a corner kick by senior Kelsey Cavaretta (Marcellus, N.Y.). Cavaretta's kick was put back up in the air by junior Gabrielle Balestrier (Mohnton, Pa.) who moved the ball over to McHale who put in the Suffolk goal.

The win improves the Monks to 8-4-2 on the season and a 4-4-2 record in GNAC play as both teams are vying for playoff position. Suffolk now falls to a 4-10 mark on the season and 4-6 record in conference play.

Both teams will be back in GNAC action on Saturday afternoon. St. Joseph's College will host Lasell  College at 2:30pm, while Suffolk host St. Joseph University at 4:30pm.
