Junior Anya Kaufmann (Evergreen, CO) scored twice in the first half, then classmate Blair Brady (San Antonio, TX) had a goal and assist in the second half as the Tufts women's soccer team posted a 4-0 non-league win over Suffolk on Wednesday afternoon at Kraft Field.

The Jumbos scored early and often. Kaufmann took a pass from first-year Allie Weiller (Katonah, NY) and drilled home a shot from the right side of the box into the lower left corner of the net just 47 seconds into the game.

At the 20-minute mark of the first half, Kaufmann scored her second of the game and third of the season when she headed in a corner kick by junior Bizzy Lincoln (San Diego, CA) for a 2-0 Tufts advantage.

Tufts earned advantages of 12-1 in shots and 7-0 in corner kicks for the first half. Suffolk sophomore goalkeeper Melissa Brouillette (Shelton, CT) made four saves in the opening 45. The Jumbos changed goalies after their second goal, replacing junior starter Kristin Wright (Austin, TX) with senior tri-captian Phoebe Hanley (Mamaroneck, NY). Wright saved the only Suffolk shot of the half, a decent opportunity off the foot of Monica Wolf (Ballston Lake, NY).

It was more of the same in the second half, with Tufts dominating behind the play of Brady. In the 67th minute, a Tufts attempt saved by Brouillette bounced out to an open Brady and she lofted a return shot over the goalie's head for her first career goal and a 3-0 lead.

Brady then assisted on the fourth and final Jumbo goal in the 79th minute, sending a ball towards the goal that Weiller headed in for her first career tally.

The four goals for Tufts were the most by the team since netting four in a loss to Keene State during the 2008 season. In additon to Kaufmann and Brady, Weiller also had a multi-point game with her goal and assist.

Tufts finished with a 26-4 margin in shots and 10-1 on corners. Hanley made two saves in 42:42 of action before giving way to junior Rachel Chazin-Gray (Berkeley, CA), who did not need to make a save in 15:41 of playing time. The Jumbos improved to 2-5-2 overall after breaking a six-game winless streak.

Brouillette made six saves for the Rams, who fell to 3-7.

Tufts returns to NESCAC action at Connecticut College on Saturday at noon. Suffolk hosts Mount Ida in a GNAC game on Saturday at 2 pm.
