Women's Soccer Fall 5-1 To Lasell

The Lasell College women's soccer team put together another strong performance on Saturday, defeating the visiting Rams 5-1 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action. Lasell moved to 7-1 on the year and 5-0 in the league, while Suffolk dropped to 2-5 overall and 2-3 in the GNAC.

Bridget Lynch (Dover, N.H.) and Kayla Lynch (Dover, N.H.) each scored a pair of goals, and Molly Fitzgerald (Haverhill, Mass.) scored as well for the Lasers. Lasell keeper Leah Pappalardo (Whitman, Mass.) made seven saves to earn the victory. Taylor Miranda (Smithtown, N.Y.) netted the lone goal for Suffolk, while Melissa Brouillette (Shelton, Conn.) stopped eight shots in the loss.

Bridget Lynch put Lasell on top 1-0 in the ninth minute, and then added her second goal on an assist from Molly Masiero (Richmond, Mass.). Miranda brought Suffolk back within a goal at 2-1 when she finished a cross from Gabrielle Balestrier in the 32nd minute. Lasell answered back four minutes later when an Ari DiOrio (Revere, Mass.) foray down the right flank ended with a cross that Fitzgerald deposited in the back of the net giving the hosts a two goal edge at the half.

Kayla Lynch scored in the 57th and 61st minutes in the second half, the second goal coming on an assist from her twin Bridget, to produce the final margin.

Suffolk will host Johnson and Wales on Thursday September 27th, while Lasell will be back in action on Tuesday September 25th when they take on Rivier at home at 4pm.
