Nedde's Late Goal Lifts Gordon Past Suffolk, 1-0

Senior Caitlin Nedde (Colchester, Vt.) broke a scoreless tie with nine minutes remaining to lead the Gordon College Fighting Scots (3-0 overall) to a 1-0 victory over the Suffolk University Rams (0-2 overall) in non-conference action on Thursday.

Nedde's initial shot hit the post and then bounced right back to her for a wide open net as her game-winner improved the Fighting Scots to a 3-0 mark to start the season.

Gordon held a 17-9 shots advantage in the game that was mainly a battle of field possession throughout.

Junior Gabrielle Balestrier (Mohnton, Pa.) had several golden opportunities to score for the Rams but fell short on both occasions. Twenty five minutes into action, Balestrier was alone from the thirty-yard line but her shot sailed wide of the goal. With eight minutes remaining the Rams threatened as junior Meghan McHale (Halifax, Mass.) was awarded a free kick following a Gordon College penalty. McHale lofted a shot towards the net that was redirected by Balestrier but stopped cold by junior goalkeeper Kari Christensen (Standish, Me.).

Christensen made three saves in goal to post the shutout for Gordon College.

Sophomore Melissa Brouillette (Shelton, Conn.) stopped five of six shots she faced in net for Suffolk.

Gordon College will be back in action on Tuesday afternoon as they travel to Colby-Sawyer College in non-conference action beginning at 4:00pm. Suffolk will host Emerson College on Sunday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) at Dilboy Stadium starting at noon.
