Colburn CNE Rookie of the Year, Women’s Lacrosse Sees Three Grab All-CNE

CNE RELEASE

BEVERLY, Mass. – Suffolk women's lacrosse put an exclamation mark on its first varsity season with a four-award haul from the Conference of New England Thursday afternoon highlighted by Ally Colburn's Rookie of the Year nod.

In addition to her major award, Colburn collected a spot on the league's second-team, while Julia Dickinson and Kate Carlson were named to the third-team.

The trio was instrumental to Suffolk's first-ever season, in which the Rams went 7-10 overall and 3-6 in CNE contests.

Colburn, a first-year attacker, had a memorable first campaign. She finished the regular season with 81 goals and 97 points, which not only led the Rams' attack, but were the best among her conference counterparts and in the region. She concluded her first collegiate campaign with the fourth-most goals in NCAA Division III, behind three veteran players, all seniors, while her points were good for ninth April 24. The Branford, Connecticut, native was a usual suspect in the box score for Suffolk as she produced at least two points in all 17 games with hat tricks in 15. Her 10-goal production in the 18-15 win over Gordon makes her one of 25 players in DIII and one of two CNE student-athletes to produce double-digit goals in a single game this campaign.

Dickinson, like Colburn, recorded at least one point in every blue-and-gold outing this year as well. The Pittsford, New York, product assembled a 73-point stat line broken down to 44 goals and a team-best 29 assists, which lands fourth fourth in the CNE ranks.

Carlson, who hails from New Milford, Connecticut, was Suffolk's draw control specialist with 69 to her credit. The defender's stat line features 34 ground balls and 21 caused turnovers, which sit second and third on the squad, respectively.

On top of the all-conference recognitions, the league handed out CNE Community Service Team, which is presented to a student-athlete on each squad that demonstrates a commitment to their community. Suffolk's representative is goaltender Charlotte Guziejjka, who defended the cage in all 17 games this year.
