
EAST BOSTON – Suffolk women's lacrosse ended a three-game losing streak with an 18-15 Conference of New England (CNE) win over Gordon Saturday at James A. Sartori Stadium at East Boston Memorial Park.

HOW IT HAPPENED
It was Gordon that scored the first goal of the game as Caroline Piorkowski potted the ball 29 seconds in the game. The Rams responded with three unanswered as Julia Dickinson sandwiched Ally Colburn's goal with two of her own to give Suffolk a 3-1 lead with 5:43 to play in the first.
The Fighting Scots managed to trim the gap down to one, 3-2, with 42 seconds left on the clock in the first thanks to Marializ Lopez.
The score tied twice in the second with the last leveled playing field at 5-all at the 8:25 mark. From there, Suffolk put away four in a row to build a 9-5 cushion. The Rams scoring came from Jessie Le, Colburn, Dickinson and Zoe Peckham.
Once again Gordon would score the final goal of the quarter as a man-up goal by Hannah Rose trimmed the blue-and-gold's advantage to three, 9-6, as the teams went the locker room.
Suffolk pushed it to a four-point distance, 12-8, as it outscored Gordon, 3-2, in the first five minutes of the third.
The Fighting Scots rallied and closed the quarter on a 3-0 run to slice the margin to one, 12-11, as the game moved to the fourth.
The fourth was action-packed as the score tied twice and the lead flipped in Gordon's favor, 14-13, in the first 6:30.
Colburn righted the wrong 29 seconds later as she netted her eighth of the day evened things at 14-all, before she pushed the Rams back in front 51 seconds later.
The Rams controlled the pace of play the rest of the way as it outscored the Fighting Scots, 3-1, over the final 5:03 to seal the victory.

- Charlotte Guziejka had eight saves, including the lone free position shot she faced, in the victory.
