
NEWTON, Mass. – Suffolk women's lacrosse suffered its first loss in program history to Beantown rival UMass Boston, 14-9, Thursday afternoon at Alumni Field on the Mount Ida Campus of UMass Amherst. The game entered the fourth quarter locked at 8-all before the Beacons' offensive erupted in the final frame en route to the Rams' setback.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Suffolk faced a 4-1 hole after the first 15 minutes as UMass Boston sandwiched a pair of goals around an unassisted Ally Colburn strike.
UMB lengthened its lead to five 2:35 into the second stanza, before the Rams rallied with three straight goals to cut the gap to one, 5-4. Eliza Bryant's man-up marker ignited the three-goal run that was capped off by a pair of goals from Julia Dickinson.
The Beacons managed to sneak one more by Charlotte Guziejka before halftime to extend their edge back to two, 6-4, as the teams headed to the locker room.
Suffolk soared out of the locker room with three goals in the first 3:52 into the third to even the score at 7. Colburn, Zoe Peckman and Dickinson were responsible for the markers that knotted the game.
From there, UMass Boston sandwiched one goal around Colburn's third of the day to make things 8-all at the end of the third quarter.
Six unanswered strikes by the Beacons consumed the first 10 minutes of the fourth quarter and Suffolk faced a sixs-goal, 14-8, margin.
Colburn ended the scoring draught with her fourth of the game with 1:19 remaining in the contest to put the Rams back within five, 14-9.
Time was not in the blue-and-gold's favor as Elizabeth Crowlly managed to save the two last shots the Rams put on target to seal up the contest.
