Four to Captain Women’s Hockey in 2024-25

BOSTON – For the second straight season Suffolk women's hockey will be led by a four-season as second-year head coach Abby Ostrom has announced the Rams' 2024-25 leadership group in captains Lily O'Neil and Sammy Lassman and assistant captains Sam Molind and Leslie Steiner

"The four of them have been Rams for their entire careers, care deeply about the growth and success of the program, and all have areas of expertise as leaders that will lend themselves well to guiding our team to success this season," Ostrom said. "They are excited to get to work and lead the program to new heights."

The group is the third-ever quartet to wear a letter in the program's seven-year history and second straight foursome to share the leadership responsibilities. O'Neil and Lassman move up to co-captains after wearing the "A" a year ago, while Molind and Steiner begin their first term in the role.

O'Neil, the first-ever goaltender to wear a letter in Suffolk women's hockey history, has been a staple in net for the last four years for the blue-and-gold. The Abington, Massachusetts local, who is the first and only Suffol women's goalie to hit the 1,000-save mark, started all 19 games she appeared in a year ago and assembled a 2.25 GAA and .929 save percentage. In 60 games played over four seasons, she boast a career 2.09 GAA and .925 percentage.

Lassman, a defenseman from Parkland, Flordia, played in all 25 games last season and supplied three goals and one assist from the blue line. In her Suffolk career, she has provided seven goals and nine handouts in 66 contests.

Steiner, a defenseman from Janesville, Wisconsin, is the most decorated captain of the group with a pair of all-conference accolades on her resume. In 25 games played a year ago, she added one goal and three assists. Overall, she has produced 30 points on 10 goals and 20 helpers.

Molind, the lone forward of the bunch that calls Middleboro, Massachusetts home, laced up her skates in 13 games last season and set-up four strikes. She has competed in 65 games throughout her career and has amassed 25-plus points with eight goals and 20 assists.

Suffolk's seventh season gets underway next weekend at the Utica Kick-Off Tournament. The Rams are set to pull the curtain back on their schedule Friday, Nov. 1 against No. 13 Utica at 4:00 p.m.
