BEVERLY, Mass. – Anya Nichipor of the Suffolk women's hockey team was selected as CCC Rookie of the Week after helping the Rams to a 1-1-0 showing at the 16th Codfish Bowl over the Weekend.
After starting a 2-1 setback to Bowdoin Saturday, Nichipor helped Suffolk secure a 5-1 victory over UMass Boston Sunday. The freshman forward broke a 1-all tie with a power play go that sent the Rams over the edge and onto victory in the Codfish Bowl consolation. The game-winner marker marked the first of the rookie's collegiate career.
Nichipor is the second Suffolk student-athlete to be recognized as the league's best rookie over a seven-day stretch as Alessia Di Silvestro garnered the feat Nov. 13, 2023. Three Rams in total have been honored this season with a weekly award. In addition to Nichipor and Di Silvestro, Lily O'Neil was tabbed the CCC Goaltender of the Week Nov. 13, 2013.
Suffolk returns to CCC competition this weekend when it faces the University of New England in a home-and-home series. The Rams head to Biddeford, Maine Friday, Dec. 1 for a 7 p.m. face off, before hosting the Nor'Easters Saturday, Dec. 2 at 4:50 p.m. at Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Skating Rink.
