O’Neil, Di Silvestro Collect CCC Weekly Awards

CCC RELEASE

BEVERLY, Mass. – Suffolk women's hockey's duo Lily O'Neil and Alessia Di Silvestro garnered Commonwealth Coast Conference weekly awards as the league office announced the former was named CCC Goaltender of the Week with the latter picking up CCC Rookie of the Week. The laurels come on the heels of a CCC series sweep of Nichols.

O'Neil combined a 1.01 GAA and .966 save percentage in the 2-0-0 weekend that featured a shutout, the fifth of the senior's collegiate career. Di Silvestro, meanwhile, contributed three points on one goal and two assists to the Rams eight-goal offensive output over the weekend.

In the 3-2 win at Nichols, O'Neil turned aside a season-high 30 shots, while Di Silvestro potted the game-winning goal.

A day later, O'Neil blanked the Bison with a 27-save effort. Di Silvestro supplied one goal and two assists to the 5-0 cleansheet. In that decisive victory, O'Neil stopped her career 1,000 shot, becoming the first-ever Suffolk women's hockey netminder to achieve the milestone feat in their time in a blue-and-gold sweater.

O'Neil and Di Silvestro are the first Rams recognized with weekly honors in the Abby Ostrom era. It is the first time that Suffolk earned multiple weekly nods from the CCC since in swept the league's weekly awards after capturing the 2023 CCC Championship March 6, 2023. O'Neil earned her fourth career weekly accolade, while Di Silvestro picked up her first collegiate weekly distinction.

The pair returns to action this weekend when Suffolk faces Endicott in a CCC home-and-home series. The Rams travel to Beverly, Massachusetts Friday, Nov. 17 for a 7 p.m. puck drop before the Gulls visit East Boston Saturday, Nov. 18 for a 4:50 p.m. showdown.
