Women’s Hockey Defeats WNE in Military Appreciation Game, 2-1

EAST BOSTON – Suffolk women's hockey downed Western New England, 2-1, in a Commonwealth Coast Conference affair Saturday night at Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Skating. The Rams, who honored the military in the outing, secured the regular-season series sweep of the Golden Bears with the victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Jenna Caballero chipped in the puck on the Rams' first and only power play of the day to open the scoring. The man-up goal came just 19 seconds after Allison Walker sat down in the pen for holding. Shana Cote won the face off to gain possession for the host. The captain dished to Miranda Gaudet and relocated in front of the cage with Cabellero stationed just in front of the opposite post on the right side of the sheet Gaudet set a shot towards the net that hit off Cote's stick and bounced to Caballero, who was there to tap it in.

Maddy Tucker managed to level the playing field for WNE 4:29 into the middle period to make things interesting.

Suffolk regained control five minutes later. Madison Ricardo found Gaudet on a breakaway, who zoomed into the Golden Bears zone and sniped a shot past Rieley Jessie-Gerelli to give the Rams the upper hand. Madison Duff helped set-up the play, which led to the eventual game-winner, by securing the puck in the blue-and-gold's defensive zone.
