BIDDEFORD, Maine – Liliana Moose of the Suffolk women's hockey team earned Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Rookie of the Week Monday after producing a four-point effort in a home-and-home series sweep of the Colonels of Curry, the league office announced.
All of the freshman defenseman's points came in the backend of the home-and-home sweep over Curry when she registered four points in a 6-1 offensive onslaught of the Colonels Saturday at the Canton Ice House. She recorded two goals and two assists in the victory including her first goal of her collegiate career. The Rochester, New York produce finished the week at plus-3.
Moose's first collegiate weekly award marks the second time this year a Rams' rookie was acknowledged by the league for their effort over a seven-day stretch as Livia Brehm took home the feat Dec. 12, 2022. In addition to the pair of rookie nods, Suffolk has a pair of player of the week honors, one for each of its captains Shana Cote and Madison Duff, who earned the nods Oct. 31 and Dec. 12, respectively. Lily O'Neil grabbed CCC Goaltender of the Week Dec. 12 to bring the blue-and-gold's season total to five.
Suffolk will be back in action this weekend when it faces Western New England in a CCC home-and-home series. The Rams will battle the Golden bears Friday, Jan. 27 in Springfield, Massachusetts, at 8 p.m., before welcoming WNE to Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Skating Rink Saturday, Jan. 28 for a Military Appreciation contest at 4:50 p.m. The Suffolk sweaters worn on Saturday are for sale now to benefit 22Mohawks.
