Cote Collects CCC Player of the Week

CCC RELEASE

BIDDEFORD, Maine – For the second straight season, Shana Cote of the Suffolk women's hockey team earned the first Commonwealth Coast Conference Player of the Week following an opening weekend three-point performance, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

Cote, a forward from Broomfield, Colorado, put together a three-point, two-goal, one-assist opening weekend to help Suffolk start the year 1-1-0.

In the season debut, a 4-2 comeback win at Plymouth State, the graduate captain put away the game-tying goal against the Panthers before aiding the blue-and-gold's fourth tally of the night.

A day later, in Suffolk's home opener, the forward found the back of the net once against UMass Boston, but it would not be enough for the Rams, who fell to the Beacons, 2-1.

The weekly recognition marks Cote's fourth weekly honor from the CCC and fifth time in her collegiate she was tabbed the league's best skater over a seven-day stretch.

Cote and the Rams return to action this weekend, Nov. 4-5, when it pulls the curtain back on its Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) campaign in a home-and-home series with Salve Regina. Suffolk will first visit SRU Friday for a 7 p.m. outing, before battling the Seahawks in Eastie Saturday at 4:50 p.m.
