McLellan Grabs CCC Goaltender of the Week

CCC RELEASE

BIDDEFORD, Maine – Julia McLellan of the Suffolk women's hockey team has been named Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Goaltender of the Week after her shutout performance over Western New England, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

McLellan put together a 24-save, complete-game effort to blank the Golden Bears and secure the home-and-home CCC series sweep for the Rams.

The junior from Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan is the first goaltender to take home the CCC's best netminder over a seven-day stretch in program history. The honor is the third for McLellan in her career, first since she garnered New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) Goaltender of the Week Jan. 6, 2020. She is the sixth Ram this season to be recognized with a weekly award from the conference this year. Overall the six student-athletes have combined for seven weekly nods this year. On top of McLellan's award, Shana Cote grabbed player of the week twice, Nov. 1 and Nov. 15. Sofia Scilipoti swept player and rookie of the week Nov. 8 with Jesse Kennedy and Hannah Gordon taking player and rookie status Nov. 23, respectively.

McLellan and the Rams are in store for a full weekend of action against Nichols. Suffolk will host the Bison Friday, Jan. 21 at Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Skating Rink at 6 p.m., before the rematch Saturday, Jan. 22 at 4:40 p.m. in Harrisville, Rhode Island.
