Women’s Hockey Seeded Sixth in NEHC Tournament

BOSTON – Suffolk women's hockey will skate in its second post season in as many as seasons as the Rams were announced as the sixth seed of the 2020 NEHC Tournament, the league office announced Sunday morning.  

In their second varsity season, the Rams went 8-7-1 over their 16-game conference calendar for 17 points. All eight of Suffolk's victories came against league foes as Taylor Wasylk built a difficult second-season slate. 

As the sixth seed, Suffolk is sent to third-seed Johnson & Wales Saturday, Feb. 22 with the puck set to drop at 4 p.m. at Lynch Arena in Pawtucket, Rhode Island.  

The Wildcats clinched the third seed with a 8-5-3 league ledger, good for 19 points. Overall, JWU put together a 11-10-4 record.  

In the regular season Suffolk split the series with the Wildcats. JWU took the meeting in The Ocean State, 2-1, Nov. 23, 2019. In Boston, the blue-and-gold put in the most goals in a conference contest in program history in an 8-0 shutout of Johnson & Wales Jan. 24, 2020.  

The winner of Saturday's showdown will advance to the semifinals, which will take place at the highest remaining seeds rink next Saturday, Feb. 29. The field will be reseeded, with the highest remaining seed hosting the lowest remaining seed and the the two remaining seeds squaring off.
