Castleton Stings Women’s Hockey in Overtime, 3-2

HOW IT HAPPENED
Izzy Hendry hit an unassisted goal 6:07 into the conference clash from the right point to give Suffolk a 1-0 edge that held at the first intermission.

Castleton leveled the scoring at the 6:50 minute mark of the middle period when Katilin Bardellini potted the puck on the power play. Bardellini connected on a Brooke Greenwood pass right in front of Kristen Caporusso to make it a 1-all outing.

The Spartans secured the advantage 1:31 out of the locker room. Darby Palisi redirected Samantha Munroe's initial shot past Caporusso to give the hosts a 2-1 lead. The go-ahead goal marked Castleton's second man-up marker of the day.

Suffolk fired shot-after-shot to evened matters and its persistence paid off. With 5:10 left in the third period, Shana Cote received a pass from Stephanie Moy at center ice. The sophomore maneuvered through the Spartans' defense and beat Alexis Kalm to knot the contest at 2-2.

Neither team was able to strike again in regulation and the winner would be decided in overtime.

Once again a penalty plagued Suffolk as the Spartans went on the power play 1:46 into the extra frame. Courtney Gauthier collected the puck on the boards to the left of Caporusso, moved behind the Rams' goal and threw the puck in front. Nicolle Trivino was there to meet it and took a one-time shot from the point to win the game for Castleton.
