Ricardo Tabbed NEHC Rookie of the Week

MARSHFIELD, Mass. – Madison Ricardo of the Suffolk women's ice hockey team was named NEHC Rookie of the Week after helping the Rams in a 2-0 week with a three-goal performance.

Ricardo is the second Rams' rookie to be named the best first-year skater over a seven-day stretch this season following goaltender's Julia McLellan's honor December 2. The weekly accolade, Ricardo's first of her career, is the third for Suffolk this season with Shana Cote earning NEHC Player of the Week status November. 11.

The forward from Nobleton, Ontario tied Friday's night battle against Southern Maine with her first collegiate marker with 18:28 elapsed in the first frame and went on to put away the eventual game-winner with 3:15 remaining in the middle period. Her career-high two-point, two-goal effort anchored Suffolk's 3-2 win over the Huskies.

Ricardo recorded her third goal of the second the next night to opening the scoring against New England College. The Rams went on to blank the Pilgrims, 2-0, to extend their win streak to three in a row and wrap up first semester action, 5-8-2 on the year and 5-3-1 versus conference competition.

Ricardo and the Rams will take the next few weeks off for finals and the holidays and will be back in action after the New Year when they wrap up a five-game homestand against Trinity Sunday, Jan. 5 at 4:45 p.m. at the Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Rink.
