Adams Picks Up New England Hockey Writers Association All-Star Nod

BOSTON – Tess Adams of the Suffolk women's hockey team has been named an all-star by the New England Hockey Writers Association, the organization announced Monday morning.

Adams and her fellow Women's Division III New England Hockey Writers Association honorees for the 2018-19 season will be recognized at the annual dinner at Prince Restaurant in Saugus, Massachusetts April 17.

Adams is one of six student-athletes to represent the New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) as an all-star as Norwich saw four honorees in Samantha Benoit, Amanda Conway, Emily Lambert, and Sophie McGovern, and Jensen Hamblett represented Southern Maine.

Adams, who hails from Calgary, Alberta, brought her talents to Boston to cap off her collegiate career on the Rams' inaugural team after starting her college playing days at SUNY Canton. The forward made the most of her time in a Suffolk sweater, as a main ingredient to the 15-9-2 overall mark and 10-4-2 league ledger, which was good for second in the conference. The All-NEHC first-teamer, ranked among the NCAA Division III best in both points (32) and goals (18), both of which sat atop the squad's offensive output numbers.

The first-ever senior in Suffolk women's hockey history, Adams cemented her spot in the Rams' record book as the first-ever skater to reach the 100-point plateau. With 79 points already on her career stat sheet after three seasons with the Kangaroos (2015-18), she needed just 21 to reach the achievement in Boston. Her 21st point came at Becker Jan. 15, 2019 on an assist to seal her spot in Suffolk's all-time annals. Adams concluded her collegiate career with 111 points (67 goals, 44 assists) over 99 appearances.

After the biology major's college playing days wrapped up, Adams took her talents to the National Women's Hockey League for the Connecticut Whale. On Feb. 24, she made more Rams' history as the first-ever Suffolk women's hockey player to compete at the professional level.
