NORTHFIELD, Vt. – Suffolk women's hockey was kept off the scoreboard by No. 4 Norwich Friday night as the Cadets shutout the Rams, 5-0, in New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) action at Kreitzberg Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Norwich took a 1-0 lead at the 6:26 mark of the first period when Nicole Lorenzo scored her second goal of the season off an assist from Brynn Wopperer.
Wopperer won a faceoff forward that Lorenzo was first to scoop up and carry out of the zone. She skated up the right wing and fired a wrist shot under the pad of Kristen Caporussoto give the Cadets all the offense they would need.
Norwich was lethal on the power play all night, converting three times on four chances to stretch its lead out as the game wore on.
Sophie McGovern was the first to capitalize with the player advantage at the 18:19 mark of the first frame off helpers from Alyssa Hulst and Robyn Foley.
McGovern struck for the second time at the 11:17 mark of the second dperiod, stuffing a rebound inside the post off feeds from Hulst and Amanda Conway.
KC Herne lit the lamp at the 6:20 mark of the third on a rebound after Caporusso made a pair of saves on shots by Morgan Tefft and Jessica Piracini, who picked up assists on the score.
Hulst capped the scoring at the 15:51 mark of the third period with another power play goal off assists from Foley and Conway. Hulst redirected a short by Foley from the point perfectly past Caporusso.
NETMINDER NOTES
- Caporusso finished with 36 saves for Suffolk.
- Emily Lambert stopped all 23 shots she faced to pick up her third shutout in the last four games.
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
- Norwich outshot Suffolk, 41-23, and won the fight in the face-off dot, 32-23.
- Tess Adams and Payton Dockus had six and four shots, respectively, to lead the Rams' offensive attack.
NOTEWORTHY
- Suffolk competed against its first nationally ranked opponent.
