Dockus Named NEHC Rookie of the Week

BOSTON – Payton Dockus of the Suffolk women's hockey team was tabbed New England Hockey Conference Rookie of the Week after putting together six points in a 2-0-1 week for the Rams, the league announced Monday afternoon.

Dockus opened the week with a personal-best outing in an offensive onslaught, 9-0 victory over Anna Maria November 14. In the midweek match, the St. Clair Shores, Michigan native scored two goals and helped on another pair to finish the outing with four points, all of which are career bests for the freshman.

Two days later in a conference clash at Johnson & Wales, she handed out one helper to aid in the 4-1 victory. Dockus followed that up with the game-tying goal at UMass Boston to force Suffolk to head to overtime for the first-time in program history.

The weekly accolade is the first for Dockus and third for the Rams, who have seen a first-year skater take home the conference's best rookie over a seven day stretch title each of the last three weeks as Haley Poloskey and Shana Cote each earned the recognition November 5 and November 12, respectively.

Dockus and Suffolk will be back in action after taking a week off for Thanksgiving when the Rams welcome Plymouth State to Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Rink Friday, Nov. 30 for a 5 p.m. conference clash.
