Mahendran Selected NWGC Player of the Week

NWGC RELEASE

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Suffolk women's golf's freshman Krisna Mahendran was named Northeast Women's Golf Conference (NWGC) Player of the Week thanks to her performance at the Keene State Invitational over the weekend.

Mahendran, a freshman from Katy, Texas, won the individual title at the Keene State Invitational on Sunday, Sept. 29 at the Keene Country Club in Keene, New Hampshire. She posted a six-over-par 78 to finish eight strokes ahead of the runner-up at the event, her teammate Ella Torsleff.

The Rams' rookie also forged a collegiate personal-best 18-hole score in leading Suffolk's squad to a team victory with a round of 341. As a team, the blue-and-gold finished 53 over par, 21 strokes ahead of second-place finisher Nichols (362).

The weekly distinction is the second of Manhendran's career as she was named NWGC Rookie of the Week Sept. 12. It is the first time a Ram was selected as the league's best player in a seven-day stretch since Ellie Yarbrough took home the feat Oct. 10, 2023.

Suffolk and Mahendran are back in action this weekend in a newly added event to the Rams schedule, the New England Classic, hosted by Gordon Saturday, Oct. 5 at 12:00 p.m. at the Wenham Country Club.
