Women’s Golf Duo to Captain Squad in 2024-25

WOMEN'S GOLF CAPTAINS HISTORY

BOSTON – Suffolk women's golf will be led by its pair of returning players in sophomore Brooke Bugajewski and Ella Torsleff, head coach Jay Parker announced.

The twosome was crucial components to Suffolk's success last season that was capped off by the program's first-ever appearance at NCAAs.

It is the second straight season and fourth time in program history that Suffolk women's golf will have multiple student-athletes in the captain's role. Bugajewski and Torsleff are the third duo to take on the job in the program's eight-year history, first since Nicole Antonucci and Brooke Chapman were co-captains in 2020-21. As a sophomore Bugajewski is the youngest captain in Suffolk women's golf history, while the pair are the first non-seniors to earn the role.

Bugajewski burst onto the collegiate scene a year ago and became the first-ever women's golf to take home NWGC Rookie of the Year behind an eighth-place finish at the Northeast Women's Golf Conference (NWGC) Championships, the best performance by a first-year golfer at the event. She was an all-conference performer alongside three of her teammates including Torsleff, who secured fourth in the 54-golfer conference field.

Academically, both Bugajewski and Torsleff were rewarded by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) as an All-American Scholar for achieving a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher. Additionally, Torsleff, an undergrad law student-athlete was named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team.

Bugajewski and Torsleff are the lone returners to the Rams five-player roster that features newcomers Emory GoodsonKrisna Mahendran and Clare Stackpole-McGrath.

The Rams are scheduled to open their season Sept. 7 at the Ithaca Invitational. The two-day tournament is set to take place at the RaNic Golf Club in Cayuga Heights, New York.
