Yarbrough Named NWGC Golfer of the Week

NWGC RELEASE

SYRCAUSE, N.Y. – Ellie Yarbrough of the Suffolk women's golf team was named Northeast Women's Golf Conference Player of the Week for her performance at the Cortland/Martin Invitational over the weekend.

Yarbrough, a junior from Killingworth, Connecticut, finished as runner-up in the Martin Division of the Martin/Wallace Invitational April 15-16 at the Cortland Country Club in Cortland, New York, leading Suffolk to a first-place team finish. She fired a two-day score of 163, posting an 81 on day one and added a stroke on the second day of play en route to a second-place performance in the 22-golfer field.

The weekly recognition is Yarbrough's second of the season as she was named the league's best golfer over a seven-day span Oct. 6. She is one of two Rams to earn the distinction this year as Isabel Smith collected the same acknowledgement Sept. 14.

Suffolk will be back in action this weekend, April 22-23, when it plays for the conference crown at the NWGC Championship at Wintonbury Hills in Bloomfield, Connecticut.
