Yarbrough Selected NWGC Player of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y.  – Suffolk women's golf junior Ellie Yarbrough has been named the Northeast Women's Golf Conference (NWGC) Player of the Week, the league office announced.

Yarbrough finished third in a pair of 18-hole events at the McGregor Links Country Club in Winton, New York, over the week. The par 72 course covered 5,615 yards each day.

On Saturday, Oct. 1, Yarbrough shot an 83 to take third at the NWGC Fall Classic and help the Rams to a second-place team showing. A day later, she registered an 86, three strokes behind individual winner Lindsay Cote, who competed as an individual, to finish third once again during the NWGC Fall Invitational and push Suffolk to a third-place team finish.

Yarbrough is the second Suffolk student-athlete to take home the conference's best player over a seven-day span this season, following behind Isabel Smith's Sept. 14 acknowledgement. It is the first weekly nod of Yarbrough's collegiate career.

Suffolk is idle this weekend as it preps to defend its regional crown at the NEIGA Championship at the Captains Golf Course in Brewster, Massachusetts, Oct. 15-16.
