Smith Tabbed NWGC Player of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Isabel Smith of the Suffolk women's golf team has been selected the Northeast Women's Golf Conference (NWGC) Player of the Week, the league office announced.

Smith, a junior from Westford, Massachusetts, finished first and led Suffolk to season-opening 341-464 dual-match victory over Westfield State Sunday, Sept. 11 at Shaker Farms Country Club in Westfield, Massachusetts. She topped the nine-team field with a seven-over-par 79 on the par-72, 5,900-yard course.

The weekly honor is the third of Smith's career. She owns 75 percent (3-4) of Suffolk's four weekly honors in program history with two to her credit a year ago and the first-ever belonging to Brooke Chapman Oct. 23, 2019.

Smith and Suffolk are back in action this weekend, Sept. 24-25 with a pair of head-to-head outings. First, the Rams will head to Bangor, Maine, to take on Husson at the Bangor Municipal Golf Course Saturday, before battling Wellesley at the Nehoiden Golf Club in Wellesley, Massachusetts, Sunday.
