Smith Repeats as NWGC Player of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Suffolk women's golf sophomore Isabel Smith has been selected as the Northeast Women's Golf Conference (NWGC) Player of the Week for the second week in a row, the league office announced Wednesday.

The sophomore's second career accolade is the Westford, Massachusetts' second in as many weeks and comes on the heels of her efforts at the Husson Invitational where she led the Rams to a first-place team finish over Husson, 728-766, in Bangor, Maine.

Rams records fell behind Smiths' two-day card of 156, which was good enough a share of individual medalist honors with the Eagles' Morghan Dutil, and rewrote the blue-and-gold's two-day record. Smith shaved two strokes off her first 18 holes (79) on the second day of the tournament to tie Suffolk's single-day program record of 77, which was set by now assistant coach Nicole Antonucci

Smith's second weekly honor makes her the first Ram in program history to collect not just multiple awards in a single season, but multiple weekly accolades in their career. The two recognitions now bring the Rams' total weekly awards count to three with Brooke Chapman responsible for the first-ever acknowledgement Oct. 23, 2019.

Smith looks to keep up her standout season this weekend when Suffolk heads to upstate New York for the Cortaca Northeast Invitational Sept. 25-26.
