Chapman Collects NWGC Golfer of the Week

BOSTON – Brooke Chapman of the Suffolk women's golf team closed out the 2019 fall campaign with a second-place showing at the fourth annual New England Intercollegiate Goal Association Championships and for her performance she made history as the first Ram to take home Golfer of the Week status from the Northeast Women's Golf Conference, the league announced Monday.

Chapman, a junior from Holden, Massachusetts, shared second amongst Division III competitors at the regional tournament. Her two-day 166 at the Captains Golf Course in Brewster, Massachusetts, included an opening round 81, the lowest score of the tournament.

The weekly nod marks the first in program's four-year history.

Chapman was down well for herself throughout two and a half years on the greens while donning blue-and-gold. She is the lone golfer to garner three- All-NEIGA first-team honors in program history, one of just two Rams to pick up an All-NWGC second-team and All-Empire 8 second-team nods, respectively.

The dual major student-athlete excels in academics as well. She has earned two Empire 8 President's lists honors, is a two-time member of Suffolk's 4.0 Club and a four-time AD Honor Roll selection.

Chapman and the Rams will rest up this winter before returning to the fairway this spring.
