Women’s Golf Takes Third at NWGC Championships

VOORHEESVILLE, N.Y. – Suffolk women's golf claimed third at the second-ever Northeast Women's Golf Conference Championships this weekend at the Colonie Country Club.

The Rams two-day score of 771 was seven strokes behind the runner-up Utica, while SUNY Cortland handled the field with a team card of 687 to capture the crown.

A pair of Rams put on impressive individual performances. Juniors Brooke Chapman and Nicole Antonucci each shot an 89 on the first day on the green. From there, Chapman put together an 87 on day two to complete the 36 holes with a 175, good for sixth in the field of 45. Antonucci, meanwhile, added a 92 to her day one score to finish with a 181 to claim ninth.

For their top-10 finishes, Chapman and Antonucci garnered spots on the league's second-time becoming the first Suffolk student-athletes to do so in the history of the program.

Tess Adams, who shot a 97 each day in the Empire State, tied for 15th, while Madison Scheinberg's 221 was good for a share of 34th.

The Rams have one final outing remaining this fall, the NEIGA Championships October 20-21 at the Captains Golf Course in Brewster, Massachusetts.
