Women's Golf Falls to Rhode Island in First-Ever Match

WARWICK, R.I. – Taking to the links for the very first time, the Suffolk women's golf team took on Rhode Island College in a head-to-head match at Valley Country Club. The Rams' squad could not overcome the veteran Anchorwomen, however, as the hosts outshot Suffolk, 424-504.

Aine Dillon was just four strokes behind the individual winner as the freshman from Dennis, Massachusetts shot a 97 to pace the Rams. Kailee Santos, who hails from San Francisco, California, was five strokes behind her classmate to finish fourth in the individual standings.

Meredith Ball, who capped a successful four-year career with Suffolk softball last spring, took her talents to the greens this fall as she continues her education in the Sawyer Buisness school pursuing an MBA. The graduate student, who calls Nahant, Massachusetts, home put together a score of 132.

Gena Restiano rounded out the Rams. The senior, who also competes for Suffolk's women's basketball team, finished the 18-hole course with a 163.

Suffolk takes next week off before traveling to Bloomfield, New Jersey for its first-ever two-day competition. The Rams will take the course at Forest Hill Field Club Oct. 15-16 for the NYU Invitational.
