Women’s Basketball Pair Picks Up All-CNE

CNE RELEASE

BEVERLY, Mass. – Suffolk women's basketball saw two players receive All-Conference of New England distinction in Amanda DeAngelis and Colby Guinta. DeAngelis secured a spot on the first time, while Guinta garnered a third-team nod, the league office announced Wednesday.

It is the second straight season that Suffolk had two players take home all-league honors.

DeAngelis picked up her third straight first-team accolade making her the third-ever Ram to pick up three first-team selections, first to do so since Jenni-Rose DiCecco '22, (2019, 2020, 2022). The award comes on a fifth-year campaign in which the forward from Londonderry, New Hampshire averaged a near double-double of 15.3 points and 9.7 rebounds per contest. She produced a double-double in half (9) of the 18 games she appeared this season. On the offensive side of the ball, she scored 20-plus points five times and double figures on 16 occasions. Defensively, she had over 10 rebounds in nine contests en route to end her collegiate career as Suffolk's all-time leading rebounder with 951 career caroms. Her name is also featured on the Rams' all-time leading scorers list in fourth with 1,464 career points.

Guinta, a junior guard from Manchester, New Hampshire, grabbed her first all-conference accolade behind a 14.6 ppg and 6.1 rpg effort. She was the blue-and-gold's threat from downtown and knocked down 3-plus triples in nine of the 25 games she competed in.

The twosome helped Suffolk clinch a spot in the CNE postseason for the fourth consecutive campaign. The postseason trip marked the program's 29th straight overall. As the sixth seed, the Rams slipped to third seed Roger Williams, 64-59, to end its year .500 (13-13).

In addition to the all-league honorees, senior captain Maddie Stewart was awarded a spot on the CNE Community Service Team, which recognizes student-athletes on every member institution's squad that demonstrates a commitment to their community.

In four seasons in the CNE (formerly CCC), Suffolk has taken home 10 conference awards including one player of the year, two defensive players of the year, four first-team selections, one second-team honor and two third-team nods. Overall, the Rams' trophy case features 44 all-conference awards, 34 of which were handed out during Suffolk's tenure in the GNAC (1996-2020) including two rookie of the year, 11 first-team, nine second-team and 13 third-team selections.
