
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – A slow start for the Rams put Suffolk women's basketball in a hole it never fully climbed out of and No. 22 Western New England beat the blue-and-gold, 65-55, in Conference of New England (CNE) action Tuesday night at the Anthony S. Caprio Alumni Healthful Living Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
A sluggish Suffolks tarted allowed Western New England to jump out to a 25-11 advantage after the first frame.
The Rams offense still could not find its grove in the second stanza and the blue-and-gold faced a 41-19 hole at halftime.
Out of the locker room, Suffolk managed to outscore WNE 19-14 in the third quarter to chip the margin down to 17, 55-38.
Suffolk continued to claw back in the final frame and managed to get the margin down to a 10, 65-55, with 21 seconds remaining.
Time was not in the blue-and-gold's favor as WNE played out the clock to seal Suffolk's setback.
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
- Colby Guinta registered a team-high 19 points on a 7-for-15 showing from the floor that included a 4-for-6 showing from downtown. She added one board, one assist and a pair of steals.
- Amanda DeAngelis logged 11 points, seven caroms, one helper and one takeaway. Nine of her points came in the second half.
- Allison Bono was a monster on the glass with eight rebounds to go along with six points and one handout.
- Maddie Stewart was on the verge of double figures with eight points. Her stat line also featured four boards, four dimes, one swat and two takeaways.
- Suffolk shot 40.7 percent (22-54) on the night, 36.4 percent (4-11) from 3-point land and 58.3 percent (7-12) from the foul line.
- The Golden Bears outrebounded the Rams, 39-36.
- WNE capitalized on Suffolk's 18 turnovers with 24 points off Suffolk's mishaps.
NOTEWORTHY
- Bono grabbed a career-high eight rebounds.
