
NORTH HAMPTON, Mass. – Amanda DeAngelis of the Suffolk women's basketball team earned a spot on the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) First Team of the Week, the regional organization announced.
The weekly accolade comes on the heels of on a 2-0 week in which the grad student averaged 19 points and 12 rebounds, while shooting 44 percent from the field.
DeAngelis, who hails from Londonderry, New Hampshire, provided 21 points, 10 caroms, three steams and one block to the 90-85 double overtime win over Wheaton. She shot 53.3 percent (8-15) from the field and 62.5 percent (5-8) from the free throw line.
Three days later, the 5-foot-10 forward, pitched in 17 points, 14 boards, two helpers and four swats in the 77-73 win at Rivier.
DeAngelis is the second Ram to be recognized by the NEWBA this year as Jordan Moreau was selected to the weekly first team Nov. 20. The weekly distinction for DeAngelis from the regional organization is the 10th of her collegiate career, first since Feb. 14, 2024 when she secured a spot on the NEWBA Second-Team.
DeAngelis and the Rams are back in action following the Thanksgiving holiday Wednesday, Dec. 4 at the University of New England. The Conference of New England (CNE) opener is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m.
