Tune Tabbed CNE Rookie of the Week

CNE RELEEASE

BEVERLY, Mass. – Tatiana Tune of the Suffolk women's basketball was named Conference of New England (CNE) Rookie of the Week after a standout performance in a 2-0 stretch, the league office announced.

In the two-game, undefeated week. Tune supplied 8.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game.

The freshman from Wynantskill, New York, was one of the crucial ingredients to Suffolk's comeback, double overtime victory 90-85 over Wheaton Nov. 20. With the blue-and-gold down double figures with six minutes remaining in regulation, the Rams mounted a comeback spurred by Tune to defeat the Lyons for the first time in program history. Ten (10) of her 14 points came in the fourth quarter and first overtime. She shot 6-for-9 for the night including a 2-for-3 effort from the charity stripe, one of which completed a traditional 3-point play to tie the game at the end of regulation and force the extra sessions. Her stat line also featured three assists, eight rebounds and three steals, two of which came in overtime.

On Saturday at Rivier, the forward contributed three points to the 77-73 triumph at Rivier.

The weekly recognition is the first of Tune's career and by the CNE this season. She is the first Ram, to pick up rookie of the week status by the conference since Feb. 12 when Jordan Moreau collected the distinction. Overall, it is the second weekly honor for Suffolk this season as Moreau secured a spot on the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Weekly First-Team Nov. 21.

Tune and the Rams are back in action Tuesday, Nov. 26 with a pre-Thanksgiving tilt at Salve Regina at 6:00 p.m.
