
NORTH HAMPTON, Mass. – Lauren Romito of the Suffolk women's basketball team secured a spot on the New England Women's Basketball Association's (NEWBA) First-team following a 1-1 week in which is averaged a double-double of 16.0 points and 11.0 rebounds per game.
The graduate student that calls Hauppague, New York home, opened the week at Hartford with a 14-point, 14-rebound, five-block effort.
On Saturday, Jan. 20, the center was crucial to Suffolk's 73-66 win at Roger Williams, the program's first over the Hawk in a decade. She registered 18 points, eight boards and five wats.
The weekly honor roll selection is Romito's second of the season, first since Nov. 21, 2023. She is one of two Rams to be recognized on the regional weekly honor roll as Amanda DeAngelis has two to her credit this season. Overall, Suffolk has received five distinctions from the NEWBA this year. In addition to Romito and DeAngelis, Jordan Moreau was named NEWBA Rookie of the Week Nov. 28.
Suffolk is back in action Tuesday, Jan. 23 when it hosts Gordon at 5:30 p.m. at Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court.
