Women’s Basketball Falls to Wisconsin Stevens Point, 57-43

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Suffolk women's basketball suffered its second setback of the season as the Rams were tripped up by Wisconsin Stevens Point, 57-43, Saturday night at the McArthur Center on the campus of Eckerd College as part of the Basketball Destinations St. Pete Classic.

THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 43 | Wisconsin Stevens Point 57
RECORDS: Suffolk (8-2) | Wisconsin Stevens Point (11-0)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Scoring draughts factored in throughout the first half. In the opening quarter, Suffolk controlled the first five minutes to build an 11-4 edge. Over the next four minutes, the Pointers paced the offensive output on either side to chip the deficit to one, 11-10, with 1:15 on the clock.

Amanda DeAngelis ended the blue-and-gold's scoring lull with a turnout jumper in the paint with just over 30 seconds to play in the first frame before Aisling Crowley converted a trip to the charity stripe to two points to give Suffolk a 15-10 lead at the end of 10 minutes.

Suffolk went scoreless for 7:30 of the second stanza, which allowed UWSP to take a 21-15 cushion. Jordan Moreau's layup helped the Rams get their scoring started again, however, the Pointers matched the blue-and-gold buckets with some of their own to send Suffolk into halftime down nine, 29-20.

The Rams never truly found their offensive grove in the third and fell behind 45-30 with 30 minutes in the book.

The hole Suffolk found itself in proved too large for the Rams to dig their way out of as the Pointers put on cruise control to the rest of the way and hand the blue-and-gold the 57-43 loss.
