BEVERLY, Mass. – Jordan Moreau of the Suffolk women's basketball team picked up her third consecutive Commonwealth Coast Conference Rookie of the Week honor after supplying 9.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.0 steals per game in a 2-0 week for the Rams. She shares the award with Emma Shinney of Endicott.
In the thrilling 71-64 overtime triumph over Endicott, the freshman from North Kingstown, Rhode Island, contributed 11 points, which included a 3-for-3 performance from 3-point land, four rebounds, four assists and three steals.
To round out action before finals and the holidays, the guard added seven points, two boards, three helpers and one takeaway wo the 62-42 win over Clark Saturday, Dec. 9.
Moreau has been a crucial ingredient to Suffolk's 7-1 start, its best since going 7-1 in the 2020-21 condescend campaign.
The weekly accolade is Moreau's third from the conference and fourth overall as she garnered New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Rookie of the Week Nov. 28. She is the second Ram to be named the CCC's best rookie over a seven-day stretch three times as Colby Guinta collected three such nods a year ago. Overall this season, Suffolk has earned four weekly awards from the CCC – Moreau's three rookie of the week nods and Lauren Romito's player of the week recognition Nov. 20 – and four from the NEWBA – Moreau's rookie of the week distinction and weekly honor roll status for Romito (Nov. 21) and a pair for Amanda DeAngelis (Nov. 15, Nov. 28).
Moreau and the Rams are on a two-week hiatus from play before jet setting to the Sunshine State for the Basketball Destinations St. Pete Classic Dec. 29-30. The Rams will face Keene State Friday, Dec. 29 at 1:00 p.m. before taking on Wisconsin Stevens Point Saturday, Dec. 30 at 7:00 p.m. Both battles will take place at the McArthur Center on the campus of Eckerd College.
