
NORTHAMPTON, Mass. – Amanda DeAngelis of the Suffolk women's basketball team garnered a spot on thew New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Weekly Second team following her double-double effort in the Rams' season-opening 67-51 win over Emerson, the regional organization announced.
DeAngelis, a senior captain from Londonderry, New Hampshire, compiled her 17th collegiate double-double in game one of the 2023-24 Suffolk women's basketball season, a 67-51 triumph over Boston Commons neighbor Emerson last Wednesday, Nov. 8. The forward shot 8-for-13 from the field and converted three traditional three-point plays to aid to the Rams' victory, their first time lifting the lid on a campaign in the win column since 2021-22 when it bested the Lions 72-42 Nov. 9, 2021.
The weekly award is the first for a Suffolk student-athlete this year. It marks the first time that a Ram was recognized for their performance over a seven-day stretch since DeAngelis was selected to the NEWBA's Weekly Second-Team Jan. 25, 2023. Overall, it is DeAngelis fourth career weekly distinction from the NEWBA.
DeAngelis and the Rams are back in action this Saturday, Nov. 18 when they take their talents on the road for the first time this year with a showdown at Eastern Nazarene at 3 p.m.
