Women’s Basketball Sweeps CCC Weekly Awards

CCC RELEASE

BIDDEFORD, Maine – Suffolk women's basketball picked up both Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Weekly awards as Amanda DeAngelis was tabbed CCC Player of the Week and Colby Guinta took home CCC Rookie of the Week.

The accolades come after the pair helped the Rams to a 3-0 week with victories over Salem State (71-54), Emerson (83-64) and Eastern Nazarene (77-73).

DeAngelis a forward from Londonderry, New Hampshire, averaged a near double-double with 18.3 points and 9.7 rebounds per game to go along with a 2.0 steals per game performance. She opened the week with a double-double against Salem State with a 20-point, 13-carom, effort that went along with a two-steal and two-block defensive effort. Across the Boston Commons at Emerson, she registered 12 points, eight boards, three takeaways and one swat. The captain wrapped up the week her second 20-plus point of the week, a 23-point offensive output that went along with an eight-rebound effort.

Guinta, a freshman that calls Manchester, New Hampshire, home, scored double-digits in each of Suffolk's three triumphs to average 15.7 points per game. On the glass she added 6.3 boards per outing and dished out 2.0 assists per game. The small forward started the week with 15 points and six rebounds versus the Vikings. Two days later against the Lions she put up a 20-point, nine-carom effort and closed out the week with a 12-point, four-rebound day against the ENC Lions.

The weekly awards mark the first for Suffolk this season. Guinta grabbed her first collegiate weekly award, while DeAngelis garnered the fifth of her collegiate career, first since she individually swept the CCC accolades Jan. 31, 2022. That is also the last time a Ram garnered a weekly award from the conference.

Suffolk is back in action tonight, Monday, Nov. 21 at MIT at 7:15 p.m.
