BOSTON – More awards are coming in for Suffolk women's basketball's Amanda DeAngelis after her monster double-double effort against Nichols as the Rams' sophomore picked up New England Women's Basketball Association Player of the Week Monday.
DeAngelis, a forward from Londonderry, New Hampshire, poured in a 29-point, 22-rebound effort to anchor the blue-and-gold's 87-68 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) victory over the Bison Jan. 4. Not only was it her first collegiate double-double and career highs in both categories for DeAngelis, but marked the most single caroms by a Ram since Alexis Hackett brought down 19 against Johnson & Wales Feb. 19, 2018.
DeAngelis is the first Suffolk player to be recognized by the regional organization with a weekly award since Jenni-Rose DiCecco was named the organization's rookie of the week Feb. 26, 2018. DeAngelis became the first NEWBA Player of the Week since Georgia Bourikas took home the honor Dec. 11, 2017.
DeAngelis and the Rams return to action tomorrow, Wednesday, Jan. 12 when they travel to Curry for a CCC clash at 5:30 p.m.
