Women’s Basketball Wins Fourth Straight with 72-59 Comeback at Curry

MILTON, Mass. – Suffolk women's basketball escaped a second stanza slump to take a 72-59 victory over Curry Saturday afternoon at Katz Gymnasium. The triumph marks the Rams fourth in a row and helps the blue-and-gold to its best record through six games at 5-1 since 2003-04.

THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 72 | Curry 43
RECORDS: Suffolk (5-1) | Curry (0-4)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Suffolk's 15-4 edge at the midway point was quickly erased as the Rams scoring stopped for the next 4:02 minutes. That lull allowed the Colonels to pull within eight, 17-9, at the end of the first 10 minutes.

The Rams offense never got going in the second, which Curry took advantage of to put the blue-and-gold in a 31-27 hole at the half.

With ground to make up, Suffolk wasted little time in the third quarter. The Colonels connected first, but then it was Rams hoop after hoop to make it a 36-33 game in favor of the visitors at the 6:39 minute mark.

Lillian Gray struck from downtown to level the playing field at 36. The Rams had a response once again. This time with five unanswered points to go ahead 41-36. As time expired in the third stanza, Suffolk's edge double to 54-43.

Hoop-for-hoop action began the fourth frame until the Colonels buried back-to-back buckets of their own to trim the gap to one possession, 59-56, with 5:04 left on the clock. Two freebies and a jumper from Jenni-Rose DiCecco jump started a Rams' 13-3 rally that stretch the rest of regulation and put the game away for Suffolk
